No cannabis Hall of Fame would be complete without Amnesia Haze, the famous cannabis cup winner. As one of the most popular Sativa-dominant strains of all time, she is still one of the most recognisable members of the Haze family and for good reason.

Many who have had the pleasure of encountering Amnesia Haze become amazed by its psychoactive potential, intriguing sweet and spicy taste, and characteristic haze plant composition. So where does this super hybrid come from and why is it so incredible?

Amnesia Haze is a Dutch cannabis classic cherished throughout the coffeeshops of Amsterdam. Dating back a long time, this illustrious strain has maintained its place as one of the greats, even to this day! She is a tropical mix of Southeast Asian (Laotian), Jamaican and Afghani-Hawaiian genetics, making her a 70% sativa dominant hybrid. Although not a pure sativa, her intensely upward high can fool you into thinking different.

TASTE, SMELL ... AND THE EFFECT OF AMNESIA HAZE

Whether smoked or vaped, Amnesia Haze has an aromatherapy-like bouquet that'll make you almost as happy and buoyant as her euphoric cerebral high. Underneath the luscious fruit, the spicy Thai and Jamaican notes add a sharp bite, while sweet, floral tones sit on top to tie it all together and complete the overall experience.
The flavour is tempting, but no matter how delicious, it comes in as a distant second to Amnesia Haze's infamous effect. The highly tolerant can smoke Amnesia Haze right up to bedtime if they want, while midrange smokers usually reserve this strain for daytime use only. Newcomers to Haze strains, on the other hand, should exercise great caution when enjoying this potent herb.

Amnesia Haze is a happy, euphoric strain that lifts the spirits and leaves most smokers grinning like crazy. The THC is very high way above 20%. Paired with relatively low CBD levels and a high percentage of Sativa genetics, the effects will go straight to your head, but Amnesia Haze has a creeping effect that may not make its presence known for 15 minutes or slightly more.

Enjoy in moderation and you'll feel comfortably social and ready to chat or laugh at the smallest joke. Take it too far, and things can get out of hand quickly leaving you staring into oblivion and unable to function at all. Our best advice is to start off slow and easy with this strain.

HOW TO GROW AMNESIA HAZE

Although Amnesia Haze is in great demand in Dutch coffeeshops, commercial growers generally stay away from this strain due to her extended finish times and need for frequent attention. She's much more likely to be cultivated by expert connoisseurs who have the patience and desire to spend the time and effort required to bring out her true potential.

When cultivating Amnesia Haze, there are few things to consider. It is a tall plant with few side branches that need plenty of space to grow. It produces one massive cola and many dense buds on its side branches. Being a sativa, Amnesia Haze has prolonged flowering period of 10-13 weeks, but it’s well worth the wait since it can yield hefty 600g/m² when grown indoors. It is a strain that likes warmer climates and needs plenty of sunny days to thrive when grown outdoors. In this situation, these tall monsters can yield over 700g/plant dried. Harvest month should be at least late october, but ideally a little bit later in November. It's prone to pests and diseases so be careful when planting it outside.

For the best results, plant Amnesia Haze in soil in an indoor environment with plenty of headroom and use organic nutrients. She takes well to most training methods including topping and SOG. If you think you might not have enough height to contain her lengthy stretch, go straight from germination to a 12/12 or even a 10/14 lighting schedule to force blooming right away.

Early on, Amnesia Haze looks more like an Indica with wide, dark-green fan leaves, but as your plants get taller, the leaves thin out & start to have more of a classic Sativa appearance. The colours change as time passes from deep green to Haze's characteristic metallic silver with plenty of THC crystals and a delicate sprinkling of peach-coloured pistils. As the buds mature, some may take on notes of purple even with stable temperatures, and the hairs will darken, going from peach to burnt orange. Individual buds have very few sugar leaves. It makes trimming fast and easy, and we all like that.
Overall, Amnesia Haze is a very rewarding hybrid. Strains like this make cannabis so much more interesting, and if you’re feeling adventurous and want to wake up from an indica induced slumber, this is a jewel you’ll want to try. Its trademark euphoric high will kick start your imagination and put things into a new curious perspective.
